A HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
In October 1998 the definite need for the establishment of a business association to mobilise the collective energies of individual dealers to create a channel through which those needs could be addressed was recognised.
It was therefore a move by the independent motor dealers to establish and promote a more viable business environment for the motor industry and to ensure that the independent motor dealer is heard and cognizance taken of issues that influence this business environment.
This initiated the establishment of the Independent Dealer Association during October 1998.
MISSION OF THE IDA
The establishment of an organised Association recognised in the International and local markets for being an effective mouthpiece in the industry in order to address issues affecting members and their clients.
It shares with it's members a wide range of knowledge, keeping them in tune with industry developments, trends and ideas that enable them to make informed business decisions.

When buying from an IDA dealer the public is insured of:

- Being assisted by a dealer with integrity and honesty.

- All members comply with local and National legislation.

The IDA and it's members are recognised by financial institutions and other role players in the industry as being an organisation with high esteem and wide spread negotiation powers. All IDA members adhere to a strict code of conduct.
CODE OF CONDUCT
IDA members will offer value for money as determined by prevailing market conditions.
IDA members will conduct all their dealings in a fair and transparent manner and with absolute integrity.
Members guarantee that all vehicles sold by them are unencumbered.
Members will not assist or get involved in financing or invoicing transactions
with financial institutions on behalf of non-approved dealers or operators.
Members will not trade under the ‘park and sell’ concept.
Clients will have the right to approach the IDA Management to mediate in cases
where differences between the client and an IDA member could not be agreed upon.
